Wearing scalp-cooling devices during chemotherapy may help prevent hair loss associated with the treatment.
In two studies of women with breast cancer, 50 to 66 percent of those who wore the special caps while undergoing chemo loss less than half of their hair.
The caps, which were approved for use in the U.S. in 2015, reduce blood flow to the scalp and thus expose hair follicles to less of the chemo drugs.
